For those of you who have never been or those of you who need a refresher on what to bring and what to expect, this email is full of info. Please let us know if you have any questions that this email doesn't answer. ([email protected]).
INTENSIVES
Festivities will begin on Friday with the Intensives. If you have signed up for an intensive, please arrive between 7:30-8:30 am to ensure you get registered prior to the class starting. As a reminder- if you received a meal plan, it doesn't start until Friday dinner so make sure to bring some food to tie you over until then. There will be hot water for tea available staring around 1pm.
MAIN REGISTRATION
This year we will be doing registration completely up at the entrance tent rather than down by the dining hall. Once you arrive there will be people to greet you and give you your lanyard, instructions on camping, cabin assignments, your booklet etc.
PARKING
As usual, we are TIGHT on parking at this site. We ask that you help us out by ensuring that you park in an organized way so that we can fit as many people in as possible. If you are camping, we ask that if you are in the camping areas where you can have your car next to you, that you fill in the outside edges first so that we can make room for everyone. More instruction will be given at registration of course. There will be NO driving through the herb faire grounds during herb faire class sessions. If you are coming and going during main faire hours we ask that you park in the main parking lot.
CAMPING
In most of the camping areas you can have your car next to your tent. Please ensure that when you are setting up camp, that you are in an area that does not block off other potential sites from the use by others. We are always tight on parking so please be aware of space, when considering your camp site. More instruction at registration. Please be prepared for hot weather, cold weather, rainy weather or anything in between!
CABINS
Upon arrival you will receive your cabin assignments. Please make sure you bring your own bedding whether that be sheets and blankets or sleeping bag etc. Don't forget your pillow! A reminder that the cabins are rustic. They have electricity however they are not heated so be prepared with enough blankets etc. Please be prepared for hot weather, cold weather, rainy weather or anything in between!
TEA
We will have hot water and tea for you over the course of the weekend. Please bring your own mug/yeti etc if you can! Tea service will start about 1pm-9pm on Friday, 7a-9p on Saturday and 7a- before closing ceremony on Sunday.
SNACKS/FOOD
There will be snacks available at the Great Lakes Herb Faire booth in the Marketplace. If you did not get a meal plan please plan to bring all of your food for the weekend. You are able to use a cook stove outside (not in the cabins). We do not have refrigerated space for you so please plan accordingly.
SILENT AUCTION
This year our silent auction will benefit our beloved Cedar Lake Outdoor Center (the land where we will spend the weekend). This land is incredibly special to all of us, not only are there plants on this land that we have come to have relationship with and have powerful medicine, but to have the honor to walk this land, is truly medicinal.
The Cedar Lake Outdoor Center had a bit of a rough go through covid and we would like to help boost them back up by donating to their facilities so that we can ensure that ourselves, the kids that come to camp there all summer and all who utilize this space can continue to do so for years to come! Please consider partaking in the silent auction or even making a private donation. IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO DONATE TO THE SILENT AUCTION, PLEASE EMAIL COLEEN AT [email protected] OR JUST BRING THE ITEM WITH YOU AND FIND COLEEN AT THE GREAT LAKES HERB FAIRE TENT IN THE MARKETPLACE.
10th YEAR ANNIVERSARY
If you would like to help be festive for our 10 year anniversary, consider bringing and wearing your past Great Lakes Herb Faire t-shirts/sweatshirts etc. :)
I think thats it for now! We are incredibly excited to spend the weekend with you all and to celebrate 10 years of new relationships with the land, the plants and the people!
See you soon!!
